VSI Signs Software Development Agreement with Texas Instruments (TI)
In June 2000, VSI and TI signed a software development agreement for a custom version
of VisSim to support the TI C2000 DSP family of motion control DSPs. Under the agreement, TI funded the
development of the VisSim/TI C2000 Rapid Prototyper™, software for the rapid prototyping of motion control
systems targeted for implementation on the TI C2000 family of DSPs. The software will be available in two
configurations, a simulation version ($3,500 US List Price) that includes VisSim/Motion™ and a lower priced,
non-simulation version ($2,500 US List price). The software is expected to be released October 31, 2000 and will
support TI F243 and TI LF2407 evaluation boards (EVMs).
The VisSim/TI C2000 Rapid Prototyper™
includes:
- VisSim/Motion: an optional block set that includes
pre-built motor, amplifier,
sensor, encoder, dynamic load and controller for easy and fast simulations of motion control systems.
- A TI C2000 Digital Motor Control (DMC) Block Set that consists of C equivalent (for
use in a software only simulation) and C-callable versions (for use in DSP-in-the-loop simulation) of the C2000
DMC assembly routine library.
- The VisSim Fixed Point Block set that consists of the following scaled radix fixed
point blocks: sum, multiply, divide, gain, constant, sign, absolute value, table lookup, 1/z, sampleHold,
negation, merge, convert, filter (FIR, IIR).
- A VisSim-CCS Plug-in that provides the option of creating a Code Composer Studio
(CCS) project of the code targeted for the C2000 DSP.
VSI Signs OEM Agreement with Mathsoft
In June, 2000, VSI and MathSoft signed an OEM Agreement for the integration or bundling
of VisSim/Comm Personal Edition (PE), software for modeling
and simulating control, communication or signal processing systems or algorithms, with
Mathcad 2000. The Communication System Design
(CSD) Pack for Mathcad which includes VisSim/Comm PE and the Signal Processing, Image Processing and Wavelets
Extension Packs for Mathcad was announced by Mathsoft for immediate availability on September 19, 2000. The CSD
is available directly from MathSoft at $ 799.

VSI Announces the VisSim/TI C2000 Rapid Prototyper at ESC
VSI presented the VisSim/TI C2000 Rapid
Prototyper™, software for the rapid prototyping of motion control systems targeted for implementation on
the TI C2000 family of DSPs, with TI at the Embedded Systems Conference September 26 - 28 in San Jose California.
The software will be available in two configurations, a simulation version ($3,500 US List Price) that includes
VisSim/Motion™ and a lower priced, non-simulation version ($2,500 US List price). The software is expected to be
released October 31, 2000 and will support TI F243 and TI LF2407 evaluation boards (EVMs).
VSI announces VisSim/Motion
VSI presented VisSim/Motion™ at the
Embedded Systems Conference September 26 - 28 in San Jose, California. VisSim/Motion enables engineers to easily
model and simulate motion/motor control systems with a pre-built and proven motion control block library.
Engineers select and connect their components (e.g., motor, amplifier, load, encoder, sensor, and controller…)
and with the push of a button, run a simulation and view the behavior of their system. VisSim/Motion is based on
Visual Solutions award winning VisSim™ software - Winner of the
1999 Readers' Choice Award from Control Magazine. The software has a US List Price of $ 995 and will be
released October 31, 2000.
September 19, 2000
VisSim for Mathcad - VisSim 4.5 released
Visual Solutions Incorporated (VSI) announces the immediate availability of VisSim
Version 4.5 for Windows 95/98/2000/NT. The version 4.5 upgrade is free to all VisSim Version 4 license holders;
for those users with prior versions the cost of the upgrade is $ 750.
VisSim Version 4.5 consists of a "no programming required" OLE/COM compliant
integration with Mathcad 2000. This integration provides Mathcad users with a simple and seamless method for
performing dynamic system simulations. With VisSim, Mathcad users can now model and simulate control,
communication or signal processing systems. Mathcad users can create new, or embed existing, Mathcad documents
within a VisSim model by using the new Insert Mathcad Object block. Users can dynamically exchange scalar or
matrix data between VisSim and Mathcad using the simple VisSim click and wire interface - no programming
required! Click here for more information.
