The Night before Shipping
(With apologies to Clement Moore)
'Twas the night before deadline and all through the team
There was nothing but bedlam - no results, it would seem.
The system had hung on a darned fixed point error.
And crazy PID signals caused deepening terror.
The PWM outputs all seemed to be missing.
"It's time," shrieked the chief, "to load up our VisSim."
So the engineers huddled, from geezers to greens,
With Visual Solution blocks up on their screens.
When away in a corner there arose such a clatter
The chief scuttled over to determine the matter.
The answer was clear. It was numeric truncation.
The radix point seemed to be away on vacation.
A simple adjustment to a gain block or two
And the feedback was perfect. The answer was true.
Were it not for VisSim and its attendant enhancements,
the oversight would've dashed all hope of advancement.
"Go Analyze! Go C-Code! Go Fixed-point and Viewer!
With CAN, LAN and Motion, our answers are truer!"
"VisSim has saved us with our backs to the wall!
Now ship today, ship today, ship today all!"
So if you have a problem and your project's gone wrong
Just point your browser at vissim.com
The chief gave a toast with his Jolt Cola Lite,
"Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good-night"
