VisSim/ModelWizard™
VisSim/ModelWizard allows you to develop high-fidelity, dynamic models of process plant subsystems or components from real-time plant and historic data. Using VisSim/ModelWizard, process control engineers and technicians can easily create models for tuning controllers without spending days or weeks developing the models.

Data Source > Encoder > Modulator ==Channel==> Demodulator > Decoder > Signal Sink

VisSim/ModelWizard consists of a simple wizard interface combined with a set of sophisticated algorithms. The underlying algorithms identify the key frequencies of a system -- even in the presence of noise -- and generate a mathematical model of optimal order, or alternatively, of an order that you specified. The software is designed to produce models for single input/single output (SISO) systems and is particularly well-suited for PID controlled systems. These models can be easily configured with other VisSim blocks (for example, PID control blocks) to perform process simulation, off-line tuning (optimization) or operator training.

Automatic optimization of controller gains of a PID controller with VisSim/OptimizePRO.

VisSim/ModelWizard guides you through an easy four step process, then automatically produces a VisSim transfer function block that represents the system. You can then connect pre-configured VisSim PI, PD or PID blocks to the transfer function block to create, simulate, and tune the control system.

In fact with the optional add-on VisSim/OptimizePRO, you can automatically calculate optimal PID controller gains relative to user-defined parameters such as rise-time, settling-time, overshoot, and steady-state error.

VisSim/ModelWizard is a very easy to use tool. We have successfully used it in conjunction with VisSim/Real-TimePRO to reduce machine downtime caused by poor controller performance. Using VisSim/ModelWizard we have reduced the number of site visits required to solve the control problem from two or more site visits to just one. Furthermore, we have reduced machine downtime significantly and now spend only three days to identify and correct the problem as opposed to the 10 to 15 working days required before using VisSim/ModelWizard.
