Our tech services staff has wide experience with translating math models into VisSim from other packages like FORTRAN, C, Mathcad, Simulink, and Modelica. While VisSim has a built-in Simulink translator, expert post translation tuning can take better advantage of VisSim features that don't exist in Simulink.

VisSim models run faster, allow code generation, and real-time operation

Converting to VisSim yields many benefits. Execution speed can increase by orders of magnitude. The VisSim embedded addon allows targeting of low cost embedded processors. The VisSim RT and OPC addons allow real-time I/O for off-line tuning and operator training.

Very easy to use

VisSim's simple interface makes it easy to replace another modeling environment.

Handles advanced multi-variable model predictive control

One example of Strathclyde's advanced use of VisSim was the implementation of a generalised, unconstrained, multivariable model predictive controller. The controller is constructed in VisSim and the controller design is carried out in Mathcad. “This was the first time I had used the matrix blocks in VisSim and I was surprised at how well they worked – despite its complexity the controller runs very quickly,” enthuses Dr Postlethwaite.

Happy he switched to VisSim

Dr Postlethwaite of University of Strathclyde has been delighted with his switch to VisSim. “Since making the swap I’ve been delighted with the technical aspects of VisSim and would never move back to a another product.”
